Fernando Alonso, the seasoned Formula One driver, revealed that he has always endeavored to assist his teammates throughout his career but the sport has only begun to be fair to him in terms of what radio messages they choose to broadcast. At the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Alonso reached out to Aston Martin asking them to pass on a set-up advice to his teammate, Lance Stroll. “Tell Lance my brake balance suggestion as I am now. I think it’s a good help,” he said.
Alonso has had conflicts with teams and teammates before but Aston Martin has been an unexpected surprise of the season. The 39-year-old driver has clinched three podium finishes in four races, with a fourth-place finish at the Baku circuit ending the impressive streak. Alonso claims that he and Stroll’s cooperation is the linchpin of the team’s resurgence.
Despite the sudden success, the small team still has a long way to go before reaching their full potential. The transition to the new factory is still pending, but Lance and I are aware of that, and we are doing our utmost to help the team in all possible ways. Alonso asserted that if they encounter an issue with the car that they didn’t discuss during the strategy meeting, they immediately share it on the radio.
According to Alonso, the Aston Martin team has a united atmosphere. They have talented people working in the factory, and they think only of the team. As a result of this attitude, they are currently second in the constructors’ championship. “So at the moment, everything is working perfectly. This is our strength probably, and why we are doing so well,” he said.
