Recent reports emerged about Red Bull evaluating the future of its sister squad, AlphaTauri. This comes after a seemingly ineffective rebrand from Toro Rosso to AlphaTauri in 2020. However, AlphaTauri’s team principal, Franz Tost, reassured fans and audiences that the rumours had “no foundation.” He received reassurance from Red Bull GmbH managing director Oliver Mintzlaff that the shareholders will not sell the Scuderia AlphaTauri team, and Red Bull will continue to support the team. Red Bull team boss Horner dismissed the reports as “amusing” because of the “considerable technical overlap between the two outfits.”
Horner emphasized the shareholders’ absolute commitment to both teams, and as far as he knows, there are no changes planned whatsoever. The two teams have existing synergies and supply agreements, such as sharing the same wind tunnel. However, there is still speculation about AlphaTauri’s future organization. Although there are rumours that AlphaTauri could expand its current factory in Faenza, there are also split reports that it could relocate to centre around its aerodynamics facility in Bicester. Regardless of the potential move, AlphaTauri may have to buy out local businesses or move to another area nearby to make it possible.
